08 Feb Focus on the good stuff! – The FOAL Chronicles #6
Focus on the good stuff!
Not an overly business-focused blog this time around, but given developments across the globe (The Donald, Brexit being triggered, the oldest fish in the world passing away…) I thought I would write down a few good things to maintain a bit of optimism in the world!
People want to help
Over the past few weeks, as has consistently been the case since ‘taking the plunge’, I have had a number of people offering to help out with FOAL. From fellow accountants looking to help with the financials, marketers offering ideas to help with brand awareness, to fellow stall holders taking the reins at the Caravan Show when I was unable to attend. Shout out to Paul and Elizabeth at All Things Nice Food (tasty stuff)! People are great.
The world looks amazing
Take time to appreciate it! Having spent a weekend in Arran at the end of January, I once again got the chance to take in some of Scotland’s natural beauty (see a wee collage below). Trudging through fields in the rain to see the Standing Stones and celebrating the sun breaking for the first time on the way to the King’s Caves. The majestic beauty of the landscape shone through (even if the sun wasn’t through the clouds). A great weekend of relaxing coupled with chatting to a few café owners about the #darkhorse.
I would also recommend a wee look at the stars from New Lanark if you get the chance – fantastic views!
Opportunities are aplenty
The last fortnight has also seen FOAL’s re-entry into the Entrepreneurial Spark programme. I am humbled to again be able to work alongside some of Glasgow’s most exciting, driven and inspirational start-up businesses. Last week’s Bootcamp and the countless new businesses entering the programme really shows the greatness of Scotland’s entrepreneurial community.
Not only does this present an opportunity for awesome business support, but also for collaboration, mentor advice and funding. Fingers crossed FOAL can continue to take advantage of this great opportunity as well as the many others in Scotland’s business community.
That’s it for now. Hopefully you are all thinking about FOAL related gifts for Valentine’s Day….(it’s on Tuesday, lads!).
